Coinbase Unleashes Tokenized US Stocks on Base Blockchain
Coinbase has introduced tokenized versions of popular US stocks on its Base blockchain. These tokens are backed by real shares held by a regulated custodian and can be traded by eligible investors outside the US.
The tokens, which include Apple, NVIDIA, Meta, and Alphabet, follow Abu Dhabi Global Market regulations and come with stockholder perks such as dividends and splits. They can be traded on venues like Aerodrome or moved between wallets, and Chainlink supplies live price data for use in DeFi apps.
This move is part of a growing trend in tokenized assets, which are expected to reach a market size of $5.5 trillion by 2030, according to Citi's prediction. Coinbase's tokenized stocks offer a fresh way to invest in familiar names through the crypto space.
