Coinbase Unveils AiFi Framework for Autonomous AI Transactions
Coinbase has introduced its AiFi (Agentic Finance) framework to integrate artificial intelligence agents into the global economic and financial system. The infrastructure aims to equip autonomous software systems with native payment, custody, and continuous settlement capabilities.
AiFi is a programmable architecture that enables AI entities to operate without manual intermediation, using algorithmic trading mechanisms, bot-to-bot transfers, and real-time computational service settlements.
According to Coinbase, the x402 protocol accounts for 97% of usage in agentic finance, with over 205 million transactions processed on the Base network. The stablecoin USDC represents 99% of commercial transactions executed by autonomous AI entities.
The rollout will continue with the technical release of Coinbase's developer libraries during upcoming industry conferences, alongside tracking proposed standardization frameworks for agent-to-agent transactions.
