Coinbase Unveils Prediction Markets for Sports and More
A new era of Coinbase has begun, and it's all about prediction markets. According to the platform, users can now trade contracts on future events, including sports, entertainment, technology, and more. The first market on offer is Sinners vs. Team Nemesis, with a payout of $113.
The market will expire on September 11, 2026, unless an outcome occurs beforehand. Trading prohibitions apply to current and former players, coaches, staff, and owners of teams and the league, as well as their household members and immediate family. Additionally, paid employees of the league and league participants are not permitted to trade.
Prediction markets allow users to bet on the outcome of future events. Each contract pays $1 if the event happens, and $0 if it does not. The price reflects the market's odds, with $0.65 indicating a 65% chance.
