Coinbase Users Warned of Sophisticated Email Scams
Coinbase email scams are becoming increasingly common, tricking users into revealing sensitive information or transferring funds to fake wallets.
Scammers often copy legitimate Coinbase emails about account activity, device confirmations, security updates, and transactions. However, unlike real emails, scam messages may direct users to a fake login page, ask for verification codes, provide fraudulent support numbers, or request the transfer of crypto to another wallet.
To identify genuine Coinbase emails, users should check the sender's address, which must come from coinbase.com or one of its verified subdomains. Scam emails may have domain names that are similar but not exact, such as coinbase-security.com or co1nbase.com.
If an email asks for information that Coinbase would never request, it's likely a scam. Legitimate messages will only ask users to verify information already in their account or confirm recent activity.
