Coinbase VP Warns US Must Set Tokenization Standards Before It's Too Late
Coinbase Vice Chairman Ryan VanGrack has emphasized that tokenization is not a future concept, but rather an existing market reality.
In an interview on Bloomberg Crypto, VanGrack stated that 'onchain finance and tokenization are already reshaping capital markets.' He warned that if the US fails to establish clear regulations, other jurisdictions may take the lead in governing this market.
VanGrack's statement comes as the Senate prepares for a cloture vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15. The bill aims to provide regulatory clarity for tokenized securities and has already cleared the House with a significant majority.
Coinbase itself has been actively involved in developing tokenization services, having launched 1:1-backed tokenized stocks such as SPCX, NVDA, GOOG, MSTR, and BMNR. These tokens are redeemable for real shares and eligible for dividends.
