Coinbase vs Finanzen.net ZERO: Key Differences in Fees and Features
Coinbase and finanzen.net ZERO, two prominent cryptocurrency exchanges, have been compared in a recent analysis by cryptoticker.io. The comparison highlighted several key differences between the two platforms.
Coinbase offers a savings plan with a minimum investment of just one euro, as well as access to more than 260 cryptocurrencies and a broad choice of payment routes, including PayPal. It also provides staking and wallet transfer services, but charges trading fees of around 1.49%, which can compound across many small transactions.
In contrast, finanzen.net ZERO does not charge explicit trading fees, instead relying on spread-based costs. However, its savings plans start from just 0.01 € for low-threshold investing in cryptocurrencies and securities, and it offers staking for crypto ETPs. The platform also features a BaFin-licensed crypto custodian and a dedicated TAN app as a security feature.
The analysis noted that Coinbase's costs can be less transparent than finanzen.net ZERO's, particularly when it comes to direct purchases. Withdrawal fees are only visible when withdrawing the respective cryptocurrency on Coinbase. In contrast, finanzen.net ZERO's total costs for a 1,000 € trade amount to around 24 € due to spreads.
