Coinbase Wallet Returns: Multichain Trading and Perpetual Futures Now Front and Center
Coinbase has restored the Coinbase Wallet name to its self-custodial product, which was previously known as Base App. The change marks a shift in focus towards multichain trading, perpetual futures, and tokenized stocks.
The wallet will serve as a testing ground for assets not available on Coinbase's centralized exchange, including over 290 perpetual markets powered by Hyperliquid. These markets offer leverage of up to 50x for eligible users.
Coinbase Wallet supports 10 networks, including the newly added Robinhood Chain and Monad. However, U.S. users remain unable to access some products due to geographic restrictions.
Ryan Kass, head of Coinbase Wallet product, described the wallet as a 'test kitchen' for new products and assets. He stated that trading inside the wallet takes place on-chain and that users can follow selected traders and view their activity.
