Coinbase Wins Abu Dhabi Approval for Tokenisation Hub
Coinbase has received regulatory approval from Abu Dhabi's Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) to establish an international tokenisation hub in the city.
The company will be allowed to arrange investment deals and provide custody services for tokenised securities, which will be fully backed by underlying shares and overseen by the FSRA.
Coinbase's Co-CEO Brett Tejpaul said that ADGM issued one of the world's first regulatory frameworks for virtual assets in 2018, reflecting a genuine institutional commitment to innovation-forward regulation.
The Abu Dhabi hub is part of Coinbase's wider UAE expansion, which also includes a derivatives operation in Dubai.
