Coinbase Wins Significant Victory in Securities Class Action

Share

A federal judge in Manhattan has delivered a significant ruling in favor of Coinbase, dismissing a proposed securities class action against the crypto exchange for most transactions on its platform.

The lawsuit claimed that Coinbase was responsible as a 'statutory seller' for all trades made through the exchange. However, U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken disagreed, stating that Coinbase cannot be held accountable for the majority of transactions on its platform.

The proposed class action will continue over a smaller number of orders that Coinbase fulfilled from its own inventory of tokens. The ruling is seen as a significant victory for Coinbase, which has faced numerous lawsuits and regulatory challenges in recent years.
