On September 12th, Coinbase's tokenized stock market on Base reached $100 million in daily decentralized exchange volume. This significant milestone came just 26 days after the product went live on August 24th.

The tokenized versions of Apple, Nvidia, Tesla, and other U.S. names have seen a surge in trading volume, with Token Terminal data citing over $730 million in trailing 30-day volume. The majority of this activity is concentrated on DeFi platforms Aerodrome and Uniswap v4.

The Base platform allows traders to hold exposure to stocks on a blockchain, and the tokens can move through the Base DeFi system, enabling swaps, price feeds, and lending. This setup has drawn attention for its potential to provide a new settlement layer for public equities.

However, the SEC's regulatory framework remains unclear, with U.S. users barred from using the platform due to Regulation S restrictions. The agency's proposed Regulation Crypto Assets has yet to be finalized, leaving the future of tokenized securities uncertain in the United States.
