Coinbase's Diversification Gambit: Can New Products Offset Trading Slump?

Share

Coinbase is set to report its second-quarter earnings on Thursday, with analysts expecting a loss of 11 cents per share on revenue of $1.33 billion. This represents an 11% year-over-year decline in revenue.

The expected loss marks a significant improvement from the first quarter's $1.49-per-share loss on $1.4 billion in revenue. However, EPS estimates have declined sharply over the past week, signaling deteriorating near-term sentiment.

Coinbase has been diversifying its business beyond spot crypto trading, with 12 separate product lines generating more than $100 million in annualized revenue. This includes derivatives and prediction markets, which launched in December and are already annualizing $100 million-plus in their first two months.
