Coinbase's US500 Index Perpetual Contract Hits $100 Million in Daily Volume
Coinbase's US500 index perpetual contract has exceeded $100 million in daily trading volume just one week after its launch, according to Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong.
This milestone marks a significant achievement for the exchange as it expands its derivatives offering beyond individual cryptocurrencies. The US500 product allows traders to gain exposure to the performance of a broad group of major U.S. companies through a perpetual contract rather than direct ownership of the underlying equities.
Perpetual contracts are particularly common in cryptocurrency markets, where they enable leveraged trading and allow market participants to maintain positions without managing traditional futures expiration dates.
