CoinCorner Brings Insured Bitcoin Custody Option to Retail Holders
CoinCorner has introduced a new insured Bitcoin custody option in partnership with AnchorWatch. The service, branded Vault, allows users to store their Bitcoin in cold storage without having to manage seed phrases or set up multi-signature wallets themselves.
The Vault model splits control of customer Bitcoin between two independent firms in different jurisdictions. CoinCorner holds one signing key and AnchorWatch holds the other, so neither party can move funds on its own. This structure is designed to reduce single-custodian and single-jurisdiction risk while keeping the user experience within a familiar CoinCorner account.
The service also comes with insurance coverage, arranged through Lloyd's of London, which addresses loss of keys and unauthorized access. Users can add funds at any time and are not locked into a long-term contract, with withdrawals available after 1.5% annual fee is billed monthly on the Bitcoin balance recorded at the start of each month.
