CoinEx Shuts Down Exchange Citing Prolonged Market Downturn
CoinEx, a nearly nine-year-old cryptocurrency exchange, is shutting down. The company cited a prolonged market downturn, contracting trading volume and liquidity, and rising regulatory costs as reasons for its exit. Spot trading will end on September 29, with withdrawals closing on December 22, 2026.
The shutdown began with futures entering reduce-only mode on September 15, followed by the cessation of new registrations, referral rebates, and new subscriptions or orders across fiat services, margin trading, loans, Earn, staking, and strategic trading. Existing futures positions can still be reduced before derivatives services end on September 22.
CoinEx will repurchase remaining CET at 0.005 USDT before automatic conversion begins on September 29. Assets without external liquidity may be delisted and their wallets will no longer be maintained after processing starts. CoinEx Wallet and CoinEx Vault, however, will continue operating separately from the exchange shutdown process globally.
