CoinEx Shutters Amid Cryptocurrency Market Decline

Share

Crypto exchange CoinEx is shutting down due to prolonged weakness in digital asset prices and reduced trading volumes. The Hong Kong-based platform cited 'continuously rising regulatory requirements' as another factor contributing to its decision.

The company will start tapering services from September 15th, 2026, and customers have until December 22nd to withdraw their funds. CoinEx claims it has an asset-reserve ratio of above 100%, meaning it holds enough assets to cover what users are owed.

However, the practical bottleneck for withdrawals may become operational, with potential delays coming from processing queues, blockchain network congestion, and internal transfer checks. This could turn a simple transfer into a waiting game after December 22nd.
