CoinGecko Integrates with Claude for Real-Time Crypto Data Access

CoinGecko has launched a connector that allows users to access live crypto market data through Anthropic's AI assistant, Claude. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) server plugs directly into Claude, providing real-time prices, market capitalizations, trading volumes, and other key metrics.

The setup process is straightforward, involving a simple connection in the Settings menu of Claude. Two tiers of access are available: a free keyless version and a Pro authenticated version. A local server option is also available through an npm package for developers who want to self-host.

The capabilities extend beyond simple price checks, allowing users to query historical data, pull information about specific DEX pools, and retrieve NFT collection metrics. The natural language interface means the complexity of the underlying data doesn't translate into complexity for the user.

CoinGecko launched the connector in beta around mid-August 2025, unveiling it during a company hackathon. Regular documentation updates are committed through 2026. However, users relying on this connector for time-sensitive trading decisions should verify critical data points independently due to potential reliability risks.
