Coinsbuy Hit by $8 Million Crypto Heist Across Tron and Ethereum
A major crypto heist occurred on August 9 when an attacker drained over $8 million from Coinsbuy wallets across two blockchain networks, Tron and Ethereum.
The theft began with a test transaction of 5 USDT on Tron, followed by the transfer of more than 6 million USDT from eight Coinsbuy wallets. On Ethereum, another 1.89 million USDT and 77 ETH were taken from three wallets.
According to blockchain investigator BlockWatchdog, the attacker moved about $6.34 million through FixedFloat, a cross-chain swap service that linked the Tron and Ethereum transactions to the same attacker.
Coinbuy replenished the affected wallets just hours after the theft, with around $3.93 million returned to the same 10 addresses. BlockWatchdog noted that this could suggest the private keys were not compromised, as a wallet would typically be topped up with seven figures once in one night, not twice.
