CoinShares Brings Crypto ETNs to Hargreaves Lansdown
CoinShares has made its Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded notes (ETNs) available on Hargreaves Lansdown, a UK-based investment platform with two million retail clients. The move extends regulated access to these crypto securities in the UK.
The ETNs, BITC and ETHE, track the value of Bitcoin and Ethereum, respectively. They are 'physically backed' by CoinShares, meaning the company holds the underlying assets against the securities.
Investors should note that ETNs do not offer direct ownership or control over the underlying assets. Instead, they provide a convenient way to gain exposure to crypto markets within a traditional investment platform.
The FCA approved CoinShares' UK retail prospectus in October 2025, paving the way for this distribution event. The addition of Hargreaves Lansdown is significant, as it brings these ETNs to a large addressable client base.
