CoinSpot Billionaire Sues Former Employee Over Missing $500,000
Russell Wilson, a secretive Melbourne crypto billionaire and founder of CoinSpot, is taking his former employee Iresh Pawan Perera to court for allegedly stealing almost $500,000.
The case marks the second alleged fraud to hit CoinSpot after a $40 million heist in 2017. According to documents filed by Casey Block Services, CoinSpot's parent company, Perera shifted $478,932 out of the company and into his personal bank account across 76 transactions between 2024 and March.
CoinSpot enforces robust safeguards to ensure operations and assets remain secure, according to a spokeswoman. However, Wilson himself has been vocal about the stress of dealing with previous scams, calling it 'the worst time of my life' after discovering the missing crypto in 2017.
