Coldcard Exploit Rattles Bitcoin Price as BlockchainFX Hits $15M Presale Milestone
The price of Bitcoin (BTC) has been affected by several factors this week, including a security scare related to the Coldcard hardware wallet exploit. Coinkite, the company behind the device, warned users that BTC stored on certain affected firmware versions could be at risk. Reports indicate that attackers have drained roughly $88.6 million in Bitcoin across multiple waves.
According to Santiment, Bitcoin's positive-to-negative social media commentary ratio has fallen to its lowest point since they began tracking it. Security scares alone rarely move price this much on their own, but they tend to compound other weak spots. This is what happened here, with the Coldcard exploit combining with cooling ETF demand and a large corporate sell-off.
Bitcoin's price outlook for August seasonality is not in its favor, historically closing in the red 9 out of the last 13 years. The recent sale of 1,637 BTC worth about $105 million by Strategy also added short-term pressure, even if it's small next to their full position.
Algorithmic models forecast Bitcoin near $78,597 by the end of 2026 and around $251,544 by 2030. However, these figures come with much more uncertainty. The community is currently tracking BTC price prediction data as one input, not a fixed roadmap.
