Hackers have exploited a security flaw in Coinkite Inc.'s Coldcard devices, considered one of the safest ways to store Bitcoin. The attack began with an announcement from Canada-based Coinkite on August 3rd, where users were informed that their cryptocurrency was at risk due to compromised keys. As a result, over 4,500 wallets have been affected, resulting in the loss of approximately $86 million in Bitcoin (BTC).

The flaw allowed hackers to siphon tens of millions of dollars from these supposedly secure wallets. According to Galaxy Research, as of Monday, roughly 1,367 BTC had been drained from the compromised accounts. This attack highlights the vulnerability even in what are considered the most secure storage options for Bitcoin.
