Coldcard Hack Highlights Quantum Computing Risk to Bitcoin Security

Peter Schiff, a well-known Bitcoin critic, has expressed concerns that advancements in artificial intelligence and quantum computing will make hacking easier for cryptocurrency holders.

The comments come after a recent hack of the Coldcard wallet, which saw around $89 million in Bitcoin stolen from over 1,200 addresses.

Schiff argued that 'this will only get worse as AI and quantum computing make hacking even easier,' but it's worth noting that neither technology was responsible for this particular incident, which was caused by a firmware flaw rather than an improvement in processing power.

Cryptographers emphasize that there are currently no viable quantum computers capable of cracking Bitcoin's cryptography, giving the network time to prepare through upcoming protocol improvements.
