Coldcard Hack Leaves $114M Worth of BTC Unmoved
The massive Coldcard hack has left its mark on the cryptocurrency landscape, with researchers from Galaxy Research attributing 1,789.28 BTC, valued at $114.7 million at the time of theft, to the attack.
The funds were stolen from 8,865 addresses, and according to Alex Thorn, Galaxy's head of research, a significant portion remains unmoved. In fact, an astonishing 87.3% of the attributed losses, amounting to 1,561 BTC, has not been spent.
The funds are currently held in attacker-controlled collection or holding addresses, including all BTC stolen during the first three attack waves. Some BTC stolen in later attacks have since moved through various obfuscation methods, such as CoinJoin transactions and peel chains.
