Coldcard Hacker Moves $7.7M in Bitcoin, Total Loss Nears $144M
The hacker behind the 'Wave 3' thefts from Coldcard hardware wallets has made a significant move, sending $7.7 million in Bitcoin to Ethereum through THORChain and CoinJoin rounds.
According to Galaxy Research, 97.09 BTC was transferred on September 2, with another batch moving into CoinJoin rounds over the weekend.
This brings the total amount of stolen Bitcoin from Wave 3 to approximately $17 million, or about 45% of the wave's haul.
The attacker created 293 two-of-two multisig vaults for each victim's coins and has been working through them in order of size, with 11 now empty and the next 10 holding a combined total of 30.81 BTC.
