Coldcard Hackers Strike Again, Stealing $130,000 in Bitcoin

A recent hack of the supposedly secure Coldcard hardware wallet has left some Bitcoin owners reeling. Tim Lamb, a 38-year-old marketer, had his two Bitcoin worth around $130,000 stolen from the wallet last week.

Lamb's Bitcoin was stored in 'cold storage,' protected by an offline Coldcard made by Toronto-based Coinkite Inc.. The secret code for unlocking it had been stamped on a metal plate hidden inside a fake dictionary.

Lamb faced a dilemma when he first heard about the hack: whether to rush home and check on his Bitcoin or finish his family vacation. He chose to wait, but by Saturday afternoon, his Bitcoin were gone.
