Coldcard RNG Exploit Cluster Drains $73M in Bitcoin
A cluster of compromised addresses on the Coldcard platform has been exploited to drain nearly $73 million in Bitcoin (BTC) through a random number generator (RNG) vulnerability. The attacker shifted 1,159 BTC from these addresses, but only forwarded a small amount, 0.06 BTC (~$3,780), to a new wallet.
The compromised addresses were among the original eight affected by the RNG exploit cluster, which had absorbed a total of 1,159.42 BTC. The attacker retained approximately $72.70 million in BTC across these original addresses.
The incident occurred within a bearish market structure for Bitcoin, with key moving averages and indicators pointing to downward pressure on prices. Technical analysis shows that the price is currently trading near its 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) resistance at $63,962.45 and below its 200-day EMA at $63,817.84.
The exploitation of the RNG vulnerability highlights the importance of ongoing monitoring and security measures for cryptocurrency platforms to mitigate such attacks. Additionally, this incident underscores the need for dynamic price prediction models that incorporate real-time on-chain fund flows analysis and exploit monitoring data.
