Coldcard Wallet Hack Exposes Vulnerability in Hardware-Based Cryptocurrency Storage
A recent exploit in the code of the Coldcard Wallet has led to a large-scale theft of Bitcoin, leaving many holders in uproar. The hack, which started last week, targeted hardware-based wallets considered by many to be the safest option for holding cryptocurrencies.
According to Galaxy Research, through last Friday, 1,082.65 BTC were stolen from the Coldcard wallets, worth approximately $70.2 million at that time.
Victims of the hack have taken to social media to share their stories of drained accounts, with some questioning the long-term viability of Bitcoin if such vulnerabilities in code are found and exploited.
