Coldcard Wallets Drain $38M as Entropy Flaw Compromises Security
Coldcard, a hardware wallet manufacturer, has revealed that approximately 594 BTC have been drained from Mk3 wallets generated between 2021 and 2023. This is due to an entropy flaw introduced in the 2021 firmware rewrite.
The issue only affects dormant setups lacking dice rolls, passphrases, or multisig configurations. The lost funds are valued at around $38 million.
