Coldcard Warns of Seed Flaw in Mk3 Devices
Coldcard has issued an urgent advisory warning that some of its Mk3 devices may be vulnerable to seed flaws after firmware update 4.0.1. This means that users who generated seeds on these devices are at risk of losing their funds.
The issue only affects Mk3 devices and not the Mk4, Q, or Mk5 models. Coldcard has confirmed that this problem is due to compromised entropy in the seed generation process.
This news comes as Bitcoin (BTC) trades at $63,026.72 within a bearish structure defined by its 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) at $64,068.34 and 200-day EMA at $63,849.29. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) is currently printing a death cross with a reading of -368.08.
As Eric Balchunas noted, the irony lies in the fact that Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) provide custody solutions precisely when cold-storage hardware like Coldcard encounters seed-generation issues.
