Coldcard Warns Users: Migrate Funds Amid Ongoing BTC Heist
Coldcard, the self-proclaimed 'best bitcoin hardware wallet', has urged users to migrate their funds after a key vulnerability left millions of dollars' worth of BTC at risk. The team admitted to the critical flaw in late July and initially estimated that over $100 million had been stolen. However, some reports now put the total losses at around $130 million.
The company took to its official X account to inform customers that they should 'treat this as urgent' and move their funds immediately. Users are advised to follow the advisory for their specific model, upgrade their device, generate a new seed, and carefully transfer their funds.
Market commentator Joe Consorti had earlier suggested that the attacker may struggle to spend a large portion of the swiped BTC due to its publicly trackable nature on the blockchain.
