College Students Ditch Schools for Crypto Education on Social Media
A recent survey conducted by OKX found that most US college students and their parents are eager for schools to teach crypto and blockchain, but in its absence, social media has become a leading source of education. The study revealed that 90% of students and 87% of parents supported teaching these subjects in college, with some even advocating for mandatory instruction.
However, demand for crypto and blockchain education appears to be outpacing formal coursework. According to a separate review, only about 28% of US universities with accredited business schools offer blockchain courses. In the meantime, students are turning to social media and influencers for information, with 33% citing them as their primary source.
Interestingly, crypto platforms and apps were the leading source among parents, at 21%. The survey, which polled 500 students and 500 parents through the online platform Pollfish, did not disclose any details about the respondents' crypto ownership rates or the margin of error.
