Commerce Department Brings Macro Data onto Public Blockchains
The U.S. Commerce Department has partnered with Chainlink to bring macroeconomic data directly onto public blockchains.
This marks a significant milestone, as it's the first time federal macroeconomic data has been made available in a programmable form on blockchain.
The initiative covers three core indicators from the Bureau of Economic Analysis: Real GDP, Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index (PCE), and Real Final Sales to Private Domestic Purchasers. These metrics are essential for economists to understand the U.S. economy.
Chainlink provides the infrastructure for this data onchain, with its Data Feeds pulling official BEA figures and publishing them to smart contracts. The feeds also carry ISO 27001 certification and SOC 2 attestation, ensuring institutional-grade controls.
