Commerce Department Brings Macro Data onto Public Blockchains
The US Department of Commerce has partnered with Chainlink to bring macroeconomic data onto public blockchains. This historic move marks the first time a federal agency has published official economic statistics onchain.
The six metrics being delivered through Chainlink Data Feeds cover three core economic indicators, each tracked in two formats: level figures and annual rate percent changes. These include Real GDP, Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index (the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge), and Real Final Sales to Private Domestic Purchasers.
The data is sourced directly from Bureau of Economic Analysis releases and will be updated on either a monthly or quarterly basis. The initial rollout spans ten blockchain networks: Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Botanix, Ethereum, Linea, Mantle, Optimism, Sonic, and ZKsync.
