Comox Resident Accused of Cryptocurrency Trading Bot Scam
A former Comox resident and business owner has been accused of cryptocurrency fraud by the BC Securities Commission (BCSC). Connor Sinclair Gardiner-Ingram allegedly convinced dozens to invest in cryptocurrency trading bots, promising profits after a specific time period. However, he used investors' funds for personal expenses, including luxury goods, jewelry, vehicles, unrelated travel, and family payments.
The alleged scheme operated under the name 'Alpha Alliance,' which Gardiner-Ingram claimed was registered in either Ontario or British Columbia. However, the BCSC states that no corporate entity with this name exists in these jurisdictions.
Gardiner-Ingram made false statements to investigators while under oath, according to the notice of hearing. The BCSC alleges he received approximately $4.6 million from investors between October 7, 2021, and February 28, 2024.
