Compass Point Upgrades Coinbase Stock Rating as Bitcoin Recovers
Compass Point upgraded Coinbase Global's stock rating to Neutral from Sell on September 14, citing expectations that Bitcoin is recovering from a cyclical bottom.
The firm raised its price target for Coinbase to $177 from $130, with the stock currently trading at $175.26 and a market cap of $46.24 billion.
Compass Point analyst Ed Engel noted that Bitcoin historically trades in four-year cycles and is tracking closely with historic norms.
The largest short liquidation in history occurred on August 19, 2026, with $3 billion in shorts liquidated, and Bitcoin broke through the $67,000 short-term holder cost basis, putting 65% of all holders in profit.
