Congress's Crypto Bill May Stall Until 2030, Lummis Warns
Sen. Cynthia Lummis has issued a warning to the crypto community that if the current US Congress fails to pass legislation regulating the digital asset market, the next realistic chance may not arrive until 2030.
Lummis, a Wyoming Republican, made this statement on September 6, 2026, emphasizing that inaction would result in lost jobs, investment, and tax revenue.
The proposed CLARITY Act aims to create formal definitions for digital assets and divide oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), depending on how a given asset is classified.
