Connecticut Warns Residents Against Unregulated Offshore DeFi Platforms
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has issued a warning to residents about unregulated offshore decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms. The alert names seven platforms, including GMX, Gains Network, and dYdX, that are operating outside of regulatory oversight.
A Connecticut resident lost $200,000 after being misled into using an unregulated DeFi exchange. The Office of the Attorney General is aware of this case and warns others to be cautious when using these platforms.
Commissioner Jorge Perez urged users to verify the legitimacy of any platform before investing, citing security and regulatory risks associated with unregulated DeFi exchanges.
