Consensys Rebuilds for Institutional Ethereum Adoption
Consensys Software Inc. has undergone significant corporate restructuring by splitting into two separate companies: MetaMask, handling consumer-facing wallet and platform business, and a newly structured Consensys entity focused on institutional protocols and infrastructure.
Linea, a zkEVM Layer 2 network designed for full Ethereum equivalence, is at the center of this new entity. Launched in 2023, Linea enables smart contracts and tools built for Ethereum's mainnet to work without modification, which is crucial for institutions that don't want to rewrite their entire tech stack.
The restructured Consensys partnership with Linea aims to build foundational platforms for global digital markets. The network features a protocol-level ETH fee burn of 20%, tying Linea's activity directly to Ethereum's deflationary dynamics.
SharpLink Gaming has announced plans to deploy $200M in ETH on Linea, utilizing yield generation through integrations with ether.fi and EigenLayer, while maintaining custody with Anchorage, a federally chartered digital asset bank.
