Core DAO Fixes Reward Exploit, Recovers Nearly 186M CORE
The Core DAO blockchain network suffered a reward-accounting exploit between August 28 and 31, releasing approximately 255 million CORE in validator rewards ahead of schedule.
This incident did not increase the network's fixed maximum supply of 2.1 billion CORE but brought future validator emissions into circulation earlier than planned.
About 186.153 million CORE was removed through a September 3 network reconciliation, while another roughly 69 million CORE had already been transferred to external wallets before the upgrade and could not be recovered.
