Core Lightning Issues Emergency Update Amid Lightning Network Security Flaws
Core Lightning has released an emergency update to fix multiple security vulnerabilities in its implementation of the Lightning Network. The update, version 26.06.7, was issued on August 28 and addresses issues reported during a 10-day review that included AI-assisted security reports.
The two-week disclosure embargo gives node operators time to install the fixes before full details are published in mid-September. Unpatched nodes could face increased risk once the vulnerabilities are made public, affecting crypto payments, DeFi, and protocol adoption.
