Core Scientific Locks Down 2.5 GW AI Capacity Deal with AMD

Core Scientific has signed an agreement with AMD to provide up to 2.5 gigawatts of data center capacity for artificial intelligence deployments starting in 2027. The deal pairs AMD's computing products with Core Scientific's power and data center infrastructure, which the company is repurposing from Bitcoin mining.

The planned deployments will use AMD's Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs, and ROCm software platform. AMD will also receive market-priced warrants allowing it to purchase Core Scientific common stock under certain conditions.

This agreement places Core Scientific among several publicly traded Bitcoin miners pursuing AI infrastructure contracts. The company has been transitioning from Bitcoin mining to high-density data center services, selling 2,385 BTC earlier this year and still holding 848 BTC.
