Core Scientific Rebuilds Its Bitcoin Treasury Amid AI Expansion
Core Scientific has restarted its Bitcoin accumulation efforts after selling part of its treasury earlier this year. The company reported adding 301 BTC to its holdings during the second quarter, bringing its total to 848 BTC. This represents a significant increase from the 547 BTC it had at the end of Q1.
The company used some of the proceeds from Bitcoin sales in Q1 to support its expansion into artificial intelligence and high-performance computing services. However, instead of relying solely on new shares or debt, Core Scientific has chosen to rebuild its digital asset reserve by retaining more of the Bitcoin it produces through mining.
Core Scientific's revenue for the second quarter rose to $164.2 million from $78.6 million in Q2 2025, with gross profit increasing to $70 million from just $5 million during the same period last year.
