Core Scientific Revenue Surges as AI Colocation Expansion Accelerates
Core Scientific has reported a significant surge in revenue for its second quarter, more than doubling to $164.2 million from $78.6 million in the same period last year.
The company's revenue growth is largely driven by its expansion into artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) colocation services, which accounted for $136.7 million of the total revenue, up from just $10.6 million a year ago.
Despite the revenue increase, Core Scientific reported a net loss of $1.15 billion, primarily due to a non-cash accounting charge related to the rising value of outstanding warrants as its share price increased.
The company's pivot beyond Bitcoin mining has led to a shift in its earnings profile, with colocation services now generating the bulk of its revenue.
