Coreum Bridge Hacked: 199,916 XRP Stolen in 97-Minute Exploit Attack

A cross-chain bridge managed by Coreum was exploited on August 9, allowing an attacker to drain nearly 200,000 XRP in just 97 minutes.

The breach occurred when the attacker faked deposits, triggering 94 separate XRP withdrawals that were approved by 17 of the bridge's 28 relayer keys.

This exploit highlights a critical security risk for crypto bridges and cross-chain DeFi infrastructure, where weak deposit verification can be exploited to steal funds.

The Coreum bridge was left with just 493.5 XRP after the attack, which released the stolen XRP through two newly created wallets.
