Coreum Bridge Hacked, 200K XRP Stolen in 97-Minute Attack

An attacker drained nearly 200,000 XRP from the Coreum bridge in just 97 minutes. The theft occurred after the attacker tricked the bridge's software into thinking fake deposits were real.

The attack began at 19:16 UTC and ended with the bridge holding only about 493.5 XRP, down from around 200,410 XRP beforehand.

CoinDesk reported that the issue was due to a software flaw that allowed the attacker to register non-existent deposits as real.

The Coreum bridge has since been halted, and outside researchers are working with the operator to determine the best course of action for affected users.
