Corporate Bitcoin Treasuries Exposed: A Ticking Time Bomb of Hidden Conditional Supply
CleanSpark, PowerCompute, and USBC are three companies that have been scrutinized for their Bitcoin treasuries. Recent filings reveal a more complex picture of these corporate holdings than previously thought.
A key aspect is the distinction between reported holdings and actual trading activity. CleanSpark's quarterly filing shows 12,205 Bitcoin held at June 30, but also notes that 1,719 Bitcoin was posted to derivative counterparties as collateral or a receivable.
The company's operational update presents an even higher total of 13,924 Bitcoin, including the 1,719 posted as collateral. This reconciles the accounting boundary with the operational total.
CleanSpark reported selling 250 Bitcoin through call exercises in June and acquired 25 Bitcoin through put exercises. Its digital asset management reconciliation included $8.595 million in proceeds from premiums and incremental Spot+ trading.
