Corporate Crypto Treasury Strategies Shift as Companies Abandon Accumulation Plans
A growing number of publicly listed companies are rethinking their crypto treasury strategies. In recent months, several firms have abandoned their digital asset accumulation plans and sold their Bitcoin holdings to repay debt or fund other business priorities.
Satsuma Technology, for example, had accumulated approximately 668 BTC, worth around $43.5 million. Shareholders voted in July to liquidate the entire holding and return capital to investors, effectively delisting from the London Stock Exchange.
Other companies, such as Bitdeer and Sequans Communications, also sold a significant portion of their Bitcoin holdings to fund AI data centers and repay convertible debt. Genius Group and Prenetics followed suit, liquidating their entire treasuries to pay off approximately $8.5 million in debt and $41.3 million respectively.
Some larger firms, like MARA Holdings and Empery Digital Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), are selling portions of their holdings but not fully exiting the market. These companies are using crypto assets more actively, selling them when needed for operations or acquisitions.
