A critical security flaw in the Cosmos EVM module has forced multiple independent blockchain networks to halt operations. KiiChain confirmed an exploit that drained 148.3 million KII tokens from user wallets on August 22.
The incidents highlight how a vulnerability in a common software module can ripple across independent blockchains sharing the same underlying code.
Cosmos EVM is an integration layer that allows Cosmos SDK blockchains to execute Ethereum-compatible smart contracts. Any security weakness in this shared module exposes every chain running the affected version.
