Cosmos Price Down Amid EVM Module Security Incident

The Cosmos (ATOM) price dropped by 3.08% over the last 37 hours due to a combination of factors, including a security incident in its EVM module and a modest market pullback.

A critical security issue was reported in the Cosmos EVM module, which led to a halt in block production on several affected chains, including MANTRA, KiiChain, and TAC. These networks were exploited by attackers, resulting in significant losses of native tokens.

Cosmos Labs confirmed the ongoing security issue and advised affected chains to pause activity until a fix was deployed. While ATOM itself was not directly impacted by the exploit, the incident raised concerns about ecosystem risk and added a short-term premium to its price.

The market pullback is also contributing to the decline in ATOM's price, as the crypto market capitalization fell 1.5% over the last 24 hours after a strong rally. This moderation in the broader market is normal following a sharp upswing, and ATOM's performance is not significantly weaker than the altcoin aggregate.
