Cosmos Token Surges as Volume Jump Pushes Price Above Descending Channel
ATOM, the token of Cosmos, has experienced a significant price increase in the past 24 hours, rising by 8.01% to $1.37. This surge in value is accompanied by an even larger jump in volume, which has increased by 153.08% to $53.14 million.
This development comes after Cosmos Hub published its first quarterly update on July 28, outlining a new three-pillar structure for Cosmos Labs and progress on CBWeb3, a push into central bank money and cross-border payments over IBC. The update has sparked renewed interest in the token, with market cap up by 8.05% to $717.48 million.
Shorts took the majority of liquidations over the last 24 hours, with $267.09K against just $10.25K from longs, indicating a clear squeeze tied to today's jump. However, open interest remains low at $105.21 million, suggesting that this bounce is not driven by fresh leverage.
ATOM has been trading inside a descending channel since May, and breaking above it would point toward $1.572, then $1.807, $2.027, and $2.288 further out. If ATOM fails to hold current levels, it could slide towards $1.215 and possibly $1.073.
